The idea and plans for Project Allahu Akbar were conceived about twenty (20) years ago at our Masjid Mumminin in Brooklyn, New York. The idea was based on the notion of establishing an organic Muslim community where Muslims live together, around the Masjid, and developing institutions to empower themselves as a Muslim people. All while governing themselves in accordance with the Qur’an and Sunnah, The Rightly Guided Caliphs, and the Sahabah.
In the early 1990’s, an acre of land was purchased in Wyandanch, New York and a temporary Masjid/Musallah was established with the Five (5) daily Prayers.
We started the following services which are still currently active:
The idea of Project Allahu Akbar is centered around the notion of building and establishing a Muslim community. It is the idea of living in a neighborhood or environment where the Islamic way of life, its values and institutions are a living reality. It is the idea of Muslims having some control in their neighborhood in terms of its peace and safety as well as being drug and crime free. It is an environment and neighborhood that distinguishes itself as a vibrant model community representing the high standards of Islamic decency.
It is also the idea that a physical Islamic community is one of the best safeguards for protecting the Muslim identity as well as one of the most effective ways of giving Dawah in the Non-Muslim society.
